Tana Poppino of Big Cabin, Oklahoma fulfilled her lifelong dream of qualifying for her first Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in 2006. She made the top 15 in the world again in 2007, making her second appearance at the WNFR. 2007 also included an invitation to the prestigious Calgary Stampede where Tana and her great bay gelding, Amigo, outran the best in two countries to be named Ladies Barrel Racing Champion, walking away with over $100K in prize money.
With over $400,000 in career earnings, Tana is becoming one of the .top professional barrel racers anywhere. Other career highlights include winning the Ft. Worth Stock Show Rodeo in 2010, National Western Stock Show and Rodeo in Denver and the average at the ProTour Finale in Dallas in 2006, the Cody 4th of July Stampede in 2007 and the Buffalo Bill Rodeo in 2007. Tana finished 8th in the World standings and in 2006, and 14th in World in 2007.
2010 started out with a bang. Tana rode Amigo to a big win in Billings, MT, at the NILE (North American Livestock Expo) Rodeo in October. Then her 9-yr-old grey gelding, Goose, (Doc Hickorys Cross) showed that he, too, belongs in the winners circle. He out ran a record number of entries, 236, to win the prestigious Ft. Worth Stock Show Rodeo in February for a paycheck of $14,000+. The two great Quarter Horses will be sharing the rodeo runs this year. Check back often to see how things are progressing.
